Green Budget Europe
Green Budget Europe's Annual Conference will take place on July 8th and 9th in Budapest.
Budapest
In response to the European Union's growing influence on environmental policy and to intensify and concentrate Green Budget Germany's numerous European contacts, Green Budget Europe (GBE) was founded in September 2008 in Brussels. GBE is a Europe-wide umbrella organisation aimed at promoting the use of Market-Based Instruments (MBI) in environmental policy.
GBE brings together representatives of business, international organisations, ministries, political decision-makers, the research community and civil society in one movement in favour of MBIs to protect the climate and environment.
Green Budget Europe is currently being run as a project of Green Budget Germany, using its infrastructure and office facilities. This has enabled Green Budget Europe to make a quick and effective start. Green Budget Europe's Annual Conference will take place on July 8th and 9th (Thursday and Friday) in Budapest. The event location will be the conference room of the Andrássy University in the centre of Budapest.
The local organiser of the conference is the Clean Air Action Group (CAAG), in cooperation with the Hungarian Economic Association.
The proposed topics of the conference are:
1. Removing Environmentally Harmuful Subsidies: Possibilities and Benefits and
2. Communicating Subsidiy Removal and Environmental Fiscal Reform.
The detailed programme (pdf). A shortened version of the programme in the form of a flyer is available here. Please note that some of the speakers are still to be confirmed.
The conference is free of charge. It includes participation in the events of the conference, the conference materials and refreshments during the breaks. The organisers cannot reimburse travel and accommodation costs.
